This is a weird year for deployments. Covid-19 has changed things for a lot of people and the effect it’s had on our military has been especially difficult. Every year in Japan we have a deployment. The plus side of the frequent deployments is that there are regularly scheduled port stops in other countries and spouses and families can go and visit for a few days. This makes the amount of time that they’re gone slightly more bearable. This year the virus has resulted in port visits being taken away and a 3 week isolation period prior to deployment on top of not knowing when they will come home from deployment. It’s going to be tough on everyone.
All this craziness makes photos together that much more special and I was so grateful to be able to do this session before Hunter went into isolation. I started my photography business with families and I always feel so happy after doing one of these sessions. I try to take pictures that I would want to have and focus on connection, hopeful that the feeling of togetherness comes through in the images.
Here are some of the photos from this beautiful family’s session…
WOW just what I was searching for. Came here by searching for iwakuni japan spring

You captured our family incredibly well and we will forever cherish these, especially during these long months ahead of us. Thank you so so much!
