WELCOME GUIDE

THINGS TO NOTE

TO MAKE SURE OUR EXPERIENCE IS AMAZING

Coverage begins promptly at our scheduled time so please show up on time. I choose our timing based on lighting and we can only shoot for as long as there is good light. If you’re late we won’t be able to make up the time and I may not be able to deliver as many images. Please read through the following information and let me know if you have any questions!

FAQs

WHAT WILL IT BE LIKE

I’ll strike a balance between posing you so you look amazing and letting things unfold naturally so I can catch the real you. You don’t need to come prepared in any way other than just being ready to hang out with your best friend.

WHAT IF I'M UNCOMFORTABLE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA

Unless you’re a professional model, that’s completely normal. I can’t tell you how many people tell me that they are usually uncomfortable with pictures but they had a great time and it wasn’t awkward at all. It’s my job to make you look good so I’ll tell you exactly what to do every step of the way.

WHEN DO WE GET TO SEE OUR PICTURES

I’ll mail your film the day after our session and the digital scans usually come back to me within 2-3 weeks. I try to get the images uploaded to your gallery within a few days of receiving them but it depends on how many other sessions I am working on at the time. Please allow 3 weeks for me to get your images back to you.

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR

Read through the information below for some specific instructions but if you’re unsure where to start, a flowy dress in a light or muted color works great for women and for men a light colored or white shirt with pants. It can range from a simple long sleeve and pants to a suit depending on how dressy you want the pictures to feel. If you want brighter images dress in white, if you want more color and contrast, you can incorporate some color! If you’re choosing a print or pattern, make sure it is small and not too distracting.

GET THE LOOK

WHAT TO WEAR

Texture and movement are the cameras best friend so think linen, silk, knit, flowy dresses, etc.

Keep prints small if you choose them.

Make sure to come with your wrists free of hair ties and all pockets free of phones, keys, etc.

Makeup photographs a few shades duller so feel free to go bolder than you normally would or even get your makeup professionally done. You can reach out to April Foster for hair and makeup if you would like to get it done.

Light colors help brighten up the images while darker colors bring more contrast. Please look through some of my photos and blogs to see what look you prefer when choosing your clothes.

Make sure your nails are clean and if painted, keep the color light or nude so it isn’t too distracting.

WEARING WHITE

White photographs really well in images and is universally flattering. It's an easy way to brighten an image (this photo was taken on a dark and cloudy evening).

DARKER COLORS

Though most clients choose light colors, you don't have to. Darker colors can photograph beautifully and offer contrast to your images. Pay attention to your location though - this couple chose earthy tones which went perfectly with the earthy tones on the streets of Kyoto.

FLOWY DRESSES

Flowy dresses and skirts are a photographers dream. They're not only flattering but they can allow for visually interesting movement in the images on a windy day.

MATCHING

You can match colors or tones but there's no need to be completely matching. This couple looked fantastic in blue without matching too much.

DRESSING UP

Photoshoots are a perfect opportunity to get dressed up and wear something fancy that you don't get to wear every day. Getting your makeup done is another thing you can do to not only feel your best but to insure you love the way you look in your pictures. Makeup photographs a few shades duller so you can be a little extra if you want.

MUTED COLORS

Muted colors will complement the surroundings and give the photos a more timeless feel.

AND FINALLY

THANK YOU
